 Maya Barrero
Oboe
A California native, Maya Barrera has extensive performance experience throughout the United States and abroad. A recent graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, Maya earned a Masters Degree in Music Performance where she studied with Robert Botti, a member of the New York Philharmonic. She also holds a Bachelors degree from the University of Southern California, where she studied with Dr. Joel Timm and David Weiss in the Thornton School of Music. Ms. Barrera’s classical training is extensive with oboe performances that span solo, symphony, chamber music and new music. Most recently, Maya attended The Bang on a Can Summer Music Festival at MASS MoCA (the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art), which focuses on adventurous contemporary music that bridges the arts. In addition, Maya Barrera is passionate and active as a private teacher and music coach throughout the Southern California area. Ms. Barrera currently resides in Los Angeles, CA teaching and performing regularly in diverse ensembles around town. |
