Christopher Miller
Tuba
Christopher Miller, a native of Atlanta Georgia, began his tuba studies with Roger Ridenour of the United States Army Band. Christopher received a Bachelor of Music in Tuba performance at the University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music, where he studied with Timothy Northcut. While at CCM Christopher participated and was on staff at the prestigious Rafael Mendez Institute, where he was featured in masterclasses of Bob Tucci, Daniel Perantoni, Harvey Phillips, and Sam Pilafian. In 2001 Christopher moved to California to study with Tommy Johnson at the University of Southern California, where he received his Master of Music in Tuba Performance. Christopher is currently finishing his studies with Jim Self, working toward a Graduate Certificate. For two years he has been a member of the USC Scholarship Brass Quintet.
Currently Christopher plays principal tuba in Santa Monica Symphony and has played in many Los Angeles based orchestras, including the Brentwood Symphony Orchestra and the Henry Mancini Alumni Orchestra. His performance credits include on-stage performances with Doc Severinsen, Mark Isham, Chris Potter, Burt Bachrach, and Sam Winch (a Rock/Indie/Alternative Band). He has also been involved in the creation of Los Angeles based Chamber music Groups including Collidescope, a seven member contemporary Ensemble.
