Alphonse Ranaudo
Piano, Music Theory, Sight Singing
After graduating dean’s list with a BA in Music from Western Connecticut University, Alphonse embarked on a successful performance career throughout the U.S. lasting a number of years. He returned to academia, earning an MA in Music Theory/Composition from UCLA, as well as completion of all course work toward a PhD. Additional training at UCLA included film scoring, advanced computer sequencing programs, studio recording techniques, and in-depth research of Post-Modernism (inception, methods, development, proponents, influences on ensuing musical styles), including detailed orchestral analyses.
Concurrent with studies at UCLA, Alphonse held the position of teaching associate for three years covering: music theory, history, sight singing, harmony, and basic-to-advanced piano performance practices. He also participated as instructor in UCLA’s outreach enrichment programs serving disadvantaged inner city youth. Other accomplishments included: The Celia and Herma Wise Scholarship in Music; The Ruth Denas Wolcott Endowment Scholarship in Music; study of film composition with renowned composers Jerry Goldsmith and Paul Chihara; advanced workshops in the National Academy of Songwriters and the BMI-Lehman Engle Musical Theatre Workshop; and composer with the World Arts & Culture department at UCLA.
Alphonse also has an MBA in marketing, and is pursuing opportunities in the corporate world in addition to his ongoing career in music. His core belief is: “Enhancing the success of an organization and promoting positive change in others is surely a life’s work worthy of my commitment and enthusiasm, and I wish to continue utilizing my talents to excel as a knowledgeable and accomplished business and community leader, teacher, mentor, performer/composer, and human being.”
